You are looking for a job and the majority of employers these days, will probably use a reputable recruitment agency like Johnson Underwood to advertise their roles and find them the best people for the position. The process is straight forward but for some who are new to registering or perhaps haven’t had to register with an agency for a long time, it can be daunting and confusing. We have put together a simple step-by-step guide to help answer those common questions.
Step 1 – Send us your CV. You can start the registration ball rolling by sending us an up to date CV detailing your work experience and qualifications in order of most recent first (ideally). You can send this via email to email@example.com. Please make sure your dates are correct and have months not just years; don’t worry about gaps we can discuss these.
Step 2 – Once we have your CV, one of our recruitment consultants will give you a call and talk through your CV with you to ensure we have understood everything on it and get a clear picture of what you are looking for.
Step 3 – We invite you in. We shall then invite you in to meet with us, especially if we have open roles that match your experience and qualifications. This is the fundamental part of registering with Johnson Underwood as we shall ask you to bring in proof of ID (driving licence/passport/birth certificate), proof of residency (utility bill) and proof to work in the UK. At this stage, you shall also meet with the recruitment consultant who you spoke with on the phone. Effectively, this will be like your first interview so that we can get a really good idea of who you are and what sort of companies and roles will suit your needs and any potential employer needs too.
Step 4 – CV’s sent to clients. We do not send any CV’s out without your permission and once you have registered, we shall match you with potential roles and discuss them with you before sending your CV out. We shall call you/email you to keep informed of any progress.
Step 5 – Interviews. When clients ask to meet you, we shall arrange suitable dates for you and our client for an interview and provide you with all the necessary information of where to go, timings and expectations from the client.
Step 6 – Role acceptance. You have been offered a position. We shall discuss salary and terms with you and the client and come to an agreement all parties are happy with. The client will then send you the contract, along with your start date. If this a permanent role, our job is done but please do stay in contact, we love to know how our people are getting on. If this is for a temporary role, you ‘employer’ is Johnson Underwood but on behalf of the client. So you will be paid by us and represent Johnson Underwood. You will be paid on a weekly basis and any queries that may arise, we will resolve for you.
