The famous lyrics; ‘Monday, Monday….whenever Monday comes, you can find me crying all of the time’ and ‘Tell me why, I don’t like Monday’s summarise the feelings most people have about the most unpopular day of the week. But why? Over 70% of the UK public hate their jobs and consequently this makes Monday the worst day.
That is a huge amount of people that wake up every Monday morning, where the dread has already started to settle in the afternoon/night before with a feeling of pure disdain! And what a real shame this is. For most people that have been in paid employment since the age of 18, working an average of 40 hours per week until retirement age, means they will spend a whopping 35% of their total waking hours at work.
This is a huge amount of time to be so miserable and unhappy at work. It is nothing new that even those that love their jobs may not relish the thought of having to go back into work after a two-day fun and freedom break but at least the awful feeling of dread isn’t there.
So what can you do? Don’t sit there and spend yet another week in a job you don’t enjoy, one that bores you to tears, where there are no benefits or the people you work with just aren’t your cup of tea!
